📄 Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of local crime watch programs in barangay settings and identified challenges in their implementation. A descriptive quantitative research design was employed, with data collected from barangay residents, officials, and community volunteers using a structured questionnaire. Findings revealed that community-based initiatives such as anti-drug campaigns, emergency response systems, and community policing are perceived as effective in promoting public safety. However, lack of resources and training emerged as a primary challenge. The study concludes that while crime watch programs are effective, strengthening institutional support is necessary. It is recommended that bargains enhance resource allocation, provide continuous training, and strengthen community engagement to sustain peace and order. Further, the College can collaborate with barangay officials to conduct information campaigns and training sessions addressing gender-based violence, including reporting mechanisms and victim support.
